Challenge #8 - Weird Dialogue, Dreams, and Red Herrings
WREN
So I know you live in Louisville but in this dream you were in Orlando and I had pasta but I know you have a gluten free house but it wasn’t your house it was a rental and I couldn’t remember if we had talked about “house rules” for the vacation rental which I now realize is because we never had the conversation because I was dreaming but at the time I thought it was because I was a horrible friend that didn’t remember and I was thinking well, Robin isn’t here so maybe you aren’t gluten free when he’s not with you because he’s the one that has a problem with gluten not you and by then it had been what felt like an hour and you were still waiting for my reply and I couldn’t remember the question and I was feeling like I was going to pass out and that’s when I woke up.
RAVEN
And that’s when you called me in the middle of the night to apologize.
WREN
Um. Yes.
RAVEN
For not doing something in your dream.
WREN
It’s very rude not to answer questions. I felt bad.
RAVEN
So bad that you proceeded to call me in the middle of the night repeatedly until I answered in a panic thinking you must be dead or gravely injured because why else would you call someone not in your state so therefore cannot come to your aid.
WREN
But then you remembered it was me so it was probably nonsense.
RAVEN
You are giving my sleep deprived brain far too much credit. I’m just now realizing I shouldn’t have been surprised.
WREN
So you forgive me?
RAVEN
For what you did or didn’t do in your subconscious? Yes. For waking me up at 2AM on a work day? I’ll get back to you after I get three more hours of sleep and an extra cc of coffee.
WREN
Oh.
RAVEN
I know you didn’t mean to cause harm but I can’t bounce back from late night early morning phone calls like I could in college or even a few years ago.
WREN
No, I understand. I’m sorry. For this call, to be clear. On top of the dream thing.
RAVEN
It is good to hear your voice though. We should do a call soon! Just at a reasonable hour.
WREN
Totally. And I’m sorry again. I’ll let you get back to sleep.
RAVEN
Yeah, thanks. Love you.
WREN
Love you too.
