Challenge #4 - Mirrors, Discover, Leaves and Lizards
SASHA is in the library surrounded by books opened to various pages, looking for something in the stacks. DREW approaches with two iced coffees.
DREW
Still on the hunt?
SASHA
Oh! You scared me.
DREW
I come with caffeine to make up for it.
SASHA
[seizing the drink]
I’ll keep that in mind when I’m contemplating whether or not to forgive you.
DREW
Please do.
[while casually looking through a book]
What are you looking for again?
SASHA
Ug, don’t get me started. I started out by looking at birth and death records, then moved on to sacrament and housing records. Marriage and annulments, divorces… I just can’t find the proof of when he started writing and if that coincided with his marriage to the town storyteller.
DREW
And the proof would be…?
SASHA
Possibly a record from London although with the fire it would be lost so hopefully it would be a Stratford record.
[greedily downs the remainder of her coffee]
It just seems like too much of a coincidence that the town’s tradition of storytelling passed out from mother to daughter ends the same generation that a lot of folklore was written into plays. And the proof has got to be somewhere.
