Challenge #20 - Weasel
MAGGIE
So, do you have a back exit?
THEO
Oh, yeah, I mean, anyone out there will see you exit front or back.
ZACH
[on the phone with 911]
No one is, hold on -
[to MAGGIE]
You aren’t hurt are you?
[MAGGIE shakes her head]
No one is hurt, but there is quite a bit of property damage and there are a lot of cars swarming the building. News vans.
(I’m sorry, what?)
Well, it looks like some reporters ran a driver off the road. Like a less tragic Princess Di situation.
THEO
Too soon, dude.
ZACH
[to the phone]
I’m worried that they might try to come in to see what happened.
MAGGIE
You can let them know that non-emergency fire would be appreciated. I’d prefer if the police stayed away.
ZACH
Did you hear that?
(Was that?)
Maggie Evers. Yes.
(I heard she was filming here but… hold on, I’ll get fire on the line. Marigold Diner?)
Yep.
(Okay, they’ll be on the way shortly.)
Thank you.
[He hangs up and looks at MAGGIE and THEO]
So… Fire is on the way as is my Aunt Diane who is the sheriff, but also the part-owner so… sorry about that.
MAGGIE
And there’s not a back exit?
ZACH
There is, but Theo is right that anyone out front would see you exiting. It’s not the biggest place.
MAGGIE
I see.
THEO
Sorry.
MAGGIE
Oh my gosh, where are my manners, I’m sorry! I’m the one that crashed through the window. Of course I’ll cover the repairs and I regret any issues this might cause I was just trying to get away from them.
ZACH
It is wild to have paparazzi in Plainsville.
MAGGIE
Yes. Sorry for that as well. Although, I certainly didn’t invite them.
